Tractor Workshop Urambo 1950? 1951?

Another shot from the period of the Groundnuts scheme. My dad is on the right. I know from other photographs that the man with the dog is called "Titch" Hill.

VULCAN 2012 Has added : That photo with six chaps and a dog. My father(Ron Jones) is second from the right and third from the right is Robbie Robson his best friend. Both now past on .

My father, mother and I moved to Nairobi after the demise of the 'Groundnut scheme" and remained there until the early sixties. Thereafter they reluctantly moved back to the UK

Jean Young has also added (August 2016) : A lot of unusual and interesting things happened in Urambo, I was working in the Area Stores with

my friend Allan Jackson, our job was to issue building materials to the blokes working on the

building sites, things like roof trusses, cement, nails, screws, low level suites (toilets) etc. One

day one of the Cooper Bros auditors came into the office, he was wearing a pistol tucked into his

Waistband, Allan passed some remark about the Wild West, and laughingly asked him if it was

loaded, the man drew his weapon and quick as a flash shot the office window out
