Oia, Santorini Island, Greece June 2006

View On Black

One of the many beautiful spots on Santorini. Oia is one of the larger towns. As you can see, some of the towns are built at the edge of the cliffs, which drop steeply away towards the caldera side of the island. This little cove is reached by a long series of steps which lead down to the center of this little collection of shops and restaurants. Wisely, we took a taxi back up (road seen to the left of the cliffs ahead). This spot was used as a location shot for the movie "Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants". We had a nice lunch!

Many ferries and cruise ships pass off the tip of Oia, to the left. I would hate to think that this lovely spot has been ruined by oil leaking from the sunken cruise ship.
