Scotch Club whisky tasting #9. This meeting was all about whiskies that you can't buy in BC - which isn't a stretch considering the tight governmental control we have here for liquor. The Bunnahabhain 12 was a non-peaty Islay I purchased while visiting a friend in Baltimore. The Glengoyne 12 year Cask Strength was one of the few bottles on offer in Quebec (another tightly controlled government situation) that is not available in BC - lightly grassy and not too sweet. And finally the Caol Ila 18, though available in Alberta and Ontario, we actually brought back with us from the distillery which we visited a couple of years ago, which of course makes it extra special. It was a mellower Caol Ila, though sufficiently peaty enough to give it that peculiar diesel aroma.
