Knaresborough Castle ravens came in to being as a community project for the Millennium, with the permission of HRH. The Prince of Wales, as the castle belongs to him under the title of the Duchy of Lancaster, it was decided to have captive ravens on display at the castle so people could see them close up and get better photographic opportunities that are not always possible at the Tower of London.

The ravens are under the care of Igraine Hustwitt Skelton. She holds the role of 'Her Majesty's Keeper of Castle Ravens, Knaresborough'.
