Summer 2015, Alaska, part 4, Skagway and an afternoon hike to Upper Dewey Lake
Part 4 of our trip started with a ferry ride from Juneau to Skagway. We spent a couple of days in Skagway and then 3 days backpacking the Chilkoot Trail. The morning of the ferry ride was foggy and rainy, but the weather began to clear as we approached Skagway. I didn't want to waste the good weather, so I did a late afternoon / evening hike from Skagway to Upper Dewey Lake and the Devil's Punchbowl. The hike featured a killer climb, incredible tundra hiking, views of both lakes, Skagway, and the fjord below, and amazing wildflowers.
