Point Bridget State Park, 7/13/15
Photos from day 2 of our Alaska trip. We hiked to Point Bridget on the coast north of Juneau. It was a foggy, rainy day, so this was a good choice. We saw old growth forest, interesting swamps, a huge meadow, lots of fireweed, and a bald eagle. Unfortunately the mountains stayed hidden in the fog for the most part. On our return we made the mistake of taking the primitive trail to Cedar Lake and Camping Cove. It was rough - lots of mud and short but steep ups and downs. From Akiyama Bight, I had the brilliant idea to bushwhack directly out to the road. At first this seemed like a good idea. It wasn't. We ended up fighting through horrible tangles of alder and devil's club. Just before the road, we had to find our way thru a swamp. This was not one of my better decisions of the trip....
