Longdon-on-Tern aqueduct

Credited to Thomas Telford and dating from 1797. It is located on the closed Shrewsbury Canal. It was the first significant use of cast iron for aqueduct construction and served as a prototype for Telford's much better known Pontcysyllte aqueduct on the LLangollen canal which remains very much in use. The trough for the canal has a still walkable towpath alongside it.

It is possible to reach here by bus from Wellington.
