The Narrows
Hiking through the Virgin River in Zion National Park. One of my all time favorite hikes thus far. We rented boots, water socks, waterproof backpack, and a hiking stick the night before to prepare ourselves for this trail. We left the hotel at 5:15am and got into the scenic drive portion shortly after. There were already cars lined up as the gates didn’t open unitl 6am. At 6:15am they finally opened them and like ants we marched to the final spot in the park which happens to be the trailhead to the Narrows aka the Temple of Sinawava. We didn't get to park at that trailhead believe it or not. We had to park a few pull offs down the way. So that meant more hiking.
NPS -The Narrows (via Riverside Walk) is a popular hike that begins at the Temple of Sinawava. At least 60% of the hike is spent wading, walking, and sometimes swimming in the river. Travel is rough and slippery in cold, fast flowing water, on top of slippery rocks.
We hiked for about 7.5 hrs. It was truly a once in a lifetime hike. I took this image about half way into the hike. I had my gear packed away for much of the hike so I didn’t put it into the drink. When we stopped, I would occasionally shoot with my iphone and then with my slr. We got about waist deep in two different parts. It was a little chilly on those portions, lol.
