8Foot: buy some mounting putty, at the dollar store. (It looks kinda like plastecine) and use little balls of it to stick your dishes together. It will save them during a quake, or someone bouncing aroudn the house, etc. It can be reused as doesn't permanently stick everythign together, leaves no marks, etc. I had all mine stuck together, except one pice, and that piece came crashign down when we had our roof tiles redone. works!!!

Shelves crashing is a huge fear of mine!

islandgirl.bc: how does mounting putty help save dishes in a crash?

Mounting putty helps things stick to the shelf in case of earthquakes or other disasters. Much touted here in earthquake country.

I don't think the entire middle shelf came down. The orange casserole on top of the Old Orchard on the middle shelf slipped off.

When I'm stacking stuff, I always invert the lids, they nest together securely that way.

      Only the single dish crashed...

I didn't take a photo...I thought about it (it may have stopped me from hyperventilating) ... it shattered into 10 billion tiny pieces and a fine glass dust....

Inverting the lids...BRILLIANT ..But I will just stick with the Cinderella bowls for now...
