The Cathedral of Syracuse (Duomo di Siracusa)

The fantastic architectural conglomeration in the Piazza del Duomo, Ortygia Island, Syracuse. Dating initially from pre-Hellenic times, over the following millenia it had been transformed into a doric temple, a 7th century church and a mosque, before adopting it's current Sicilian baroque facade. Despite the passage of earthquakes, conquests, and time, every chapter of the building's history remains readily visible in it's striking appearance.
