Above the snicket

At the top of the snicket, the path passes over the former Halifax - Queensbury railway line, then climbs steeply again towards Boothtown, emerging opposite Range Lane. The stone setts (cobbles) here are arranged to provide at least a semblance of grip, with every third row being raised. It must have been fun for the Victorian mill workers descending here on an icy winters morning in their clogs.
