This contrada is located south-east of Piazza del Campo. It originally housed Jewish quarter of the city and the synagogue. The traditional trade of the area was woolcombing. The reason why the contrada's symbol is an elephant is because they used to be called the Lionfante or elephant contrada.

This is a wide angle view of the fountain which is located at the top of a set of stairs which overlooks the outskirts of the city. In contrast to many of the other fountains, the statue that portrays the symbol of the contrada is not located near the waters of the fountain. Instead it is off to the side and heading away from the fountain.

After 44 years with no victory, the Torre contrada finally won the Palio in 2005. The video above shows some the extreme excitement of the contrada members immediately after the victory.
