The man emerges to be immortalized
It's been a lost season for my favorite team, but I had this date circled on my calendar all season. Rickey Henderson was one of my boyhood heroes, and I'm certainly not the only person out there who spent hours imitating his crouch, his snatch catches, and his headfirst slides in my back yard. He was a class act on this day, and several eyes got a little misty as he wrapped up a very touching speech. Oakland's finest right there.
