April – Three Shires Head

Three Shires Head is the meeting point of the counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. I think this was taken from Staffordshire, but I am not totally sure. Three Shire Heads used to be a site for trading in counterfeit money, and illegal prize fights and cock fighting. When the police turned up, the participants would simply cross over the river into another county and thus escape arrest.
