      Marc, the paper is black Mulberry paper, white-glued to some fine thin white paper I had.
      I usually don't wait for the glue to be completely dry, so it is a way of wet folding.

      hey!! that is such an amazing piece!! i am making a automata of "the cow jumped over the moon" for my final project in my 3D art class and would LOVE to be able to make my cow look like your.. do you have any tutorials of how to make it so well??
