I thought at first that it was an out of focus insect. Closer examination suggests an out of focus flower. You have much better images in your portfolio why did you post this one?

The color and contrast is so catchy however, being out of focus, it's a bit distracting.

Isn't it an insect? I thought so too. I like the comp, the colors. To bad it's blurry. Would really like to see this in focus.

The shot needs better focus and might look better around f/8.0 or so. It just feels like the camera was trying to do too much.

I have no idea how to convert the focal length and aperture from a point and shoot to what i am used to with the dslr.

I don't really know what to say here. As others have mentioned, the photo is quite blurry. Is this a crop and digital magnification? I see noise in the flower, yet the ISO suggests there shouldn't be much noise. The bug itself seems to be surrounded by smaller bugs. The ones on the top looks almost like part of the big bug. But they are out of focus, and so is the big bug. So I can't tell what I'm looking at. Also, you state this is the back of the bug? I'm sorry, but that's not really the most interesting subject for me. It may have paid off to wait for the bug to turn around to get its head.

Also, your exposure is too high in my view. You have solid white around the center of the flower which detracts from the overall effect.

The colour of the flower is quite pleasing. I like how you have placed it within the frame, allowing the composition to take on a "spiral" effect. This does help draw the eye to your subject. I think your composition is the best thing you've got going for you here, and the colours of the flower are nice. This is good in my view, because it shows some of your skill. I think the rest of the photo is lacking because of the equipment you are using.
