20070825_0986 a poem for the wetlands

"A poem for the wetlands" by Patrick Jones and Mel Ogden. c. 2004

Installed in the Heathdale Glen Orden Wetlands, Werribee.

This highlights the flat topography of the wetland and aspects of the surrounding built environment. It sits subtly in the environment and provides an element of surprise without detracting from the areas natural appearance.

The work includes three words engraved in the sandstones, which were arrived at through a community workshop - PLAY - KEEP - LIVE

The main structure comprises three stacked arrangements of large quartzite stones from the Pyrenees in Central Victoria, a pattern of painted orange steel posts and a steel jetty.
