      The events series was the Olympic Road Trials. And that is almost certainly a Raleigh.

      Yes, the bike is a Raleigh but how did the 'AVOCET' label get on the front of the fork blades? Was he pimping for his buddies bank in Menlo Park?

      Pimping? Well I guess you could say anybody who ever had a trade name on their jersey was pimping...And most of today's riders (and I mean non-competitve too) mindlessly do it for free, with ugly nylon jerseys festooned with whatever.
      At least LeMond probably had some contractual agreement through the team for the name to be displayed.
