Hemistour calling card circa 1972

Hemistour card designed by Greg Siple for the early 70's Alaska to Argentina cycling expedition. Two riders, Greg and June Siple completed the ride, which served in part as an inspirational incubator for Bikecentennial76 which in turn became Adventure Cycling based in Missoula Montana.

I have a HEMISTOUR card in my wallet. It was given to me by Jeff Cartozian, who I met in San Mateo, California, while he worked briefly at the Black Angus restaurant so he could afford to (re-)join the tour. Shortly after he caught up with the group he was killed by a hit-and-run driver, if I'm not mistaken. It was so sad. I shall never forget his enthusiasm for the ride. I have bicycle toured a lot in my life (mostly Europe) and always carry Jeff's card with me so he can come along on adventures that he, in part, inspired.
