DDX 89L, Ipswich AEC Swift 89 on the first working of an Ipswich bus along Henley Road, 20th. July 1980.

Bus 89 inaugurates the original Route 13 on Sunday 20th. July 1980. This was a rather odd service that operated on Sundays and evenings (i.e. when this part of town wasn't served by other bus operators) and it ran to the roundabout where Tuddenham Road meets Colchester Road. The service (which was soon reduced to a Sundays only operation) was later renumbered 17 (number 13 being adopted for a much busier service to Chantry). A proper destination display had not been fitted on the blinds at this time, so a board was carried inside the front windscreen.
