The Brown-throated Parakeet is one of the most common parakeets in its area of Colombia, Venezuela and northern Brazil. There is a separate population in Panama and a further disjunct population south of the Amazon between the Tapajós and Madeira rivers.
There are 14 subspecies showing different amounts of brown on the face, throat and, sometimes, belly as well as differing colours of eye-ring and/or forehead. (www.arthurgrosset.com)
