Winter Solstice crown
This is the wool felt version of a paper Winter Solstice crown craft I organized last winter for the children at work (I'm an educator at an ecology centre in the area and every winter we have a "Celebration in the Woods" full of crafts, a puppet show and other festivities).
I've never made a wool Waldorf inspired crown before and I learned some things about constructing it along the way. Still, I'm happy with the end result. The centre moon is a little pocket so the wearer of the crown can gather items from nature on the day of solstice and wear them in celebration. I tried to use colours that reminded me of wintery days- those beautiful snowy grayish ones and the purplish dark winter nights. This one is a gift, but I plan on making these for my etsy store along with a Summer Solstice version.
