Great Grey Shrike (Lanius excubitor)

I chanced upon this one yesterday, they are winter visitors to the UK so I was lucky he was still about. I had seen him back in January but only in the distance, yesterday he stopped briefly in the tops of a hedgrow as I walked past underneath. This is a typical pose, but it is unusual to get so close, they hunt large insects from exposed perches like this.
