Common Starling (Sternus vulgaris)

Not as common as they once were, but still plenty around - the swirling flocks in winter pre-roosting are a great spectacle. These were taken in my garden way back in Dec 2010 and they have their fresh winter coats on complete with white arrows. These wear away later and make it easier to see the irridescent greens and violets underneath. Much under-rated I feel!
