MORNING LIGHT ON THE LOWTHER HILLS
Yesterday afternoon I left Sanquhar at 3.55pm and covered a little over ten miles to camp here in the col on the south side of Lowther Hill and Cold Moss, at 1873' this was to be my highest camp on the entire walk. From this spot I had good views of the golf-ball on Lowther Hill and the assorted radio masts on nearby (and slightly higher) Green Lowther but the only sounds were the trickling of a burn and the call of the curlew.
Its a beautiful morning and I was all packed and walking by 7.25am. From here to Beattock its about 18 miles of upland moors with a good bit of forest trackways before reaching the next food & water options.
