Moscow ABM System A Tests, 1959 – 62.

Trajectories of R-12 (SS-4 Sandal) and R-5 (SS-3 Shyster) Missiles fired from the Kasputin Yar Cosmodrome and Field Launch Positions at Makat and Chelkar toward an Impact Point at the Sary Shagan Missile Test Range.

The R-12 Missile could reach Sary Shagan from the Kapustin Yar Launch Pad, however, the shorter distance from the Makat Launch Site gave the Missile a steeper Trajectory, making it easier for the Experimental ABM Radar to detect.
