This photo was taken in the West Bank city of Hebron on the International Day in Solidarity with Palestinian Political Prisoners. Prisoners' Day is marked by demonstrations through out the Occupied Territories with families demanding the release of their loved ones being held in Israeli prisons.
Some 11,000 Palestinians are currently being held as political prisoners by Israel, including 398 Palestinian children and 110 Palestinian women. There are at least 850 Palestinians in Israeli prisons being held without charge or trial. These prisoners face forms of torture and mistreatment during their arrest and detention, and are consistently denied family and lawyer visits.
