Butte, Montana--Finn Town
Butte, Montana was known as a hard rock mining community during the 1900's. Home of the Anaconda Company and the Berkeley Pit, an open pit copper mine, Butte fell into decline after the Anaconda Company picked up and left. Leaving an open pit copper mine with 80 million + gallons of toxic waste that is now a tourist attraction. This is one of the last buildings standing in an area known as Finn Town, one of the ethnic neighborhoods.
