Los Angeles, CA, Southern Pacific Arcade Station

The second station built by Southern Pacific in Los Angeles (and first one built primarily for passenger service) was Arcade Station. Built in 1889 and used until 1914 when it was replaced by larger SP Central Station ( www.flickr.com/photos/84263554@N00/6617756803/in/set-7215...) . It was demolished shortly thereafter.

I read recently that the palm tree in the picture was transplanted to Exposition Park and still stands today near the L.A. Coliseum and the new space shuttle Endeavour exhibit. True?
