Year 2~Day 87 +058/366: Reading to the Class
Amazingly enough, I have never read this book before. I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. I still haven't finished reading it to the class. In preparation for the book, I brought up the Earthcam at Times Square in New York and projected it on the screen so the students could hear the noise and see how busy it was. Then I showed them a video that I'd purchased in NYC that was like a mini-field trip to the busy city. I even showed them some photos of myself 13 years ago visiting NYC. When I'm reading aloud, we discuss a little. We make predictions and try to keep up with the characters and the setting. I enjoy reading the mouse's part when he is whining about the money. I also read part of the cricket's words with a high-pitched voice. The students really like the sound of the Chinese man's words. Today I enjoyed singing very high and off-key like the cat. We have also listened to the sounds of crickets on the computer. I'm enjoying this book better than I thought I would.
