Go North East recently made a number of service revisions in the Sunderland area. As part of these changes, "Silver Arrows" services 2A/2C and "SimpliCity" service 42 were merged to form one service, running on a 10-minute frequency. The revised services 2/2A have a PVR of 13 vehicles, and are now operated by the Optare Versa V1110/Optare vehicles (8306 - 8309 and 8319 - 8327) previously allocated to service 39 and "SimpliCity" services 42 and 61, while service 61 is operated by the former "Silver Arrows" branded Mercedes Citaros which have recently been repainted silver, under a new brand.
Optare Versas 8306 - 8309 and 8319 were repainted purple at the back end of 2013 and had not been branded whilst allocated to service 39. As such, the paint on these vehicles is of a higher quality than "SimpliCity" branded Versas 8320 - 8327. These vehicles have not been painted since entering service in June 2011, so these vehicles have been booked for repaint before four years of age. These vehicles are now starting to receive the revised "SimpliCity" branding, which includes the new route details and promotes ticketing options available.
