Like most machinery in Myanmar, our car was not in great shape. In particular the battery was shot. So if the car stopped it was touch and go if it would start again. Of course the engine stopped and it could not be restarted on the one or two pops in the battery so the driver and our guide pushed it down the hill, trying to restart it....but it still did not start! Having done that (ingenuity unbounded, and likely not for the first time!) they solicited the local football team to push it back up the hill and they succeeded in starting it in reverse!
