two beautiful smiles--Moose now has a good home!

    Newer Older

All those scars on Moose's head, and one apparently was an unhealed wound. Poor guy, it developed into an abscess, hugely swollen, and Jessica was afraid he might have to be euthanized after all. Today, she realized it's responding very well to antibiotics, and Moose is moving to the "100" building, where the adoptable dogs go to be seen! They are seen here heading out for a run together. Happy smiles all around today!

Moose is available for adoption from Metro Animal Services in Louisville. See the rest of Moose's story here and in the comments below.

She's trying to talk her brother into it. But maybe she'll renegotiate with her landlord (the main obstacle) and take him herself. They are a great couple, but I miss walking him myself. He's such a sweetie!

I love how a dog of that size finds it perfectly reasonable to sit on someone's lap!
His friend looks remarkably calm and lovely in spite of how much he must weigh sitting on her. I know how rewarding it is to have a giant shelter dog on one's lap, though. (:

Moose got adopted! I don't know the details, but I hope it's a good home. Pit bulls are so big but they are so vulnerable to bad, uncaring, cruel people.

I spoke too soon. Moose got returned to the shelter last night, abscess re-infected, had surgery today so that the abscessed wound can drain and heal. I hung out with him for a while shortly after he woke up, and he's not feeling too great, but we can make sure he gets a good home next time.

Moose is still looking for a home. His adopters returned him because the abscess re-developed (apparently they didn't finish the antibiotics; anyway, he's better off out of that home). Jessica's parents have been fostering Moose except for a few days back in the shelter to have a drain tube put in and clean out the site of the abscess. I saw him the day of the surgery and he looked awful coming out of the anesthesia, saw him again a couple of days later and he looked so much better. Moose and another giant pit mix, Achilles, both need people who can really commit to them for life--and who will take good care of them. Please spread the word, but only to GOOD owners!

He looks so adorable - I am adding my hopes and prayers that he finds a really really GOOD home soon (well him and Achilles both). No joy with the landlord?!

Good luck, Moose! You are a big lug of a guy, but I bet you are full of love and happiness! I hope you find a forever home!

Oh, best of luck, Moose! You look like you have lots of love to give!

Jessica's dad came to pick up Moose from his medical visit to the shelter. Jessica's parents will foster him for another couple of weeks, and who knows, maybe they will end up adopting him! I think Jessica's mom might say this is wishful thinking, but send good thoughts his way please!

Awww, I want this big boy to have a great rest of his life! Went through many of his photos, a heart tugger. Good luck big guy, wish I had room for you or others like you, but I've got 5 dogs and hubby says no more.
Please keep us informed, and thank you for all you do!

Jessica and her parents are adopting Moose; her parents will keep him till she has a place that allows dogs and then he'll live with her.

This is the best possible news I can imagine! I hope there will be more updates about Moose! He's awesome! Apparently lots of people think so given the number of comments on all of his photos. :-)

A huge thanks to Jessica's parents for stepping in to help the situation for a while till Jessica gets a place that allows dogs. Wonderful news!
