Lab 3: Relationship
The steel fixture is embedded in the concrete, as the tree's roots are in the soil.
The steel is dependent on the concrete for its purpose, as the tree is on the soil. I also found it interesting that the natural relationship is symbiotic, while the manmade one is more parasitical. Another interesting difference is how the steel fails to mould to the concrete surface (to its structural detriment), while the tree takes maximum advantage of the soil by growing in perfect harmony within it.
