I am a painter, but my work is largely based on photographic images.

By themselves, prints of my photos may be nothing more than well composed snapshots; the original photos are not necessarily fine art. By painting an image I can elevate it far above my point and shoot camera work. I have seen something special about the photo that I have captured, and the process of painting brings that into definition.

Some have called my work photorealistic, but I would not go quite that far, it's more on a border between enhanced realism and photorealism. I think I like the term contemporary realism best.
