Thomas W. Lamb's 1916 Ridgewood Theatre's ornate terra cotta and Indiana limestone facade, and the mostly intact theater lobby merits designation as an Individual Landmark (facade) and (partial)Interior Landmark, respectively.

March 24, 2009 from 11:25 AM - 12:00 PM: The facade has been calendared for a public hearing by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, Municipal Building, 1 Centre St, 9th Floor North, NY, NY. Public testimony in favor of Individual Landmark status for the Ridgewood Theatre facade was unanimous & diverse!

GREAT NEWS: January 12, 2010 - The Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public meeting today, where commissioners voted unanimously to designate the Ridgewood Theatre as Queens' newest Individual Landmark (facade). It was a nearly 2-year preservation cause, since Chairman Michael Perlman of Friends of The Ridgewood Theatre submitted a Request For Evaluation & research, founded the group, a MySpace Page, and conducted a petition drive and letter campaign.

This is the Friends of The Ridgewood Theatre online petition. Architect Thomas W. Lamb's mostly intact theater lobby and the Adamesque auditorium (awaiting restoration but greatly endangered) still merits Interior Landmark status. Please post a comment, and also forward this petition to as many colleagues and friends as possible:
