So many people have asked how I did this, so here:

It's not that difficult, really--the most important element is a very wide lens. I put the camera strap around my neck (actually, down across my shoulders a little to keep the camera flat against my chest) and triggered it by biting the cable release. I manually focused the camera and shot this on Tv mode to keep the shutter speed constant at 1/60 or 1/80. Next time, I'd try to shoot it even slower to get longer trails. Chimp once or twice to check your composition and exposure and you should be good.
