Great Victoria Street Presbyterian Church [Originally Sandy Row Presbyterian Church] REF-102868
Great Victoria Street Presbyterian Church [Originally Sandy Row Presbyterian Church]
This church, described as classical stucco, was built to accommodate 800. It was designed by 'Mr McNea' and it opened in January 1861. It was originally the Sandy Row Presbyterian Church.
I am planning to spend three days in Belfast at the end of May and I hope to devote some time to photographing a number of churches in the city. If you can suggest a church that I should photograph please do so.
There are many churches in Belfast but because some of them serve very small communities at present it is possible that many will become inactive sooner rather than later. An example is the Great Victoria Street Baptist Church (Hope Street) which was recently demolished. Fortunately I did photograph it back in 2012.
