Old & New Cooper River Bridges, Charleston, South Carolina
Bridgepixing the old and new Cooper River Bridges in Charleston, South Carolina. Pictured on the left, one of two older bridges that are both currently being demolished and replaced by the new Cable-Stayed Bridge on the right, named the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (aka New Cooper River Bridge). This view (taken in May, 2005) from the "Emergency Lane" (Yes, Officer, it was an emergency that I stop and take this picture before they tear down this beautiful, old, rusty bridge) of the oldest Cooper River Bridges built in 1929, aka Grace Memorial Bridge.
The new bridge on the right officially opened on July 16, 2005, two months after this photo was taken.
