This was Brum, 1949-1950

Lots to see in this superb postcard view of Corporation Street, Birmingham, circa 1949-50. The Citys' tramway is still in operation, I think that you're just able to see an approaching tramcar in the far distance. A cyclist hangs onto the rear of motorbus 1495, a Metro-Cammall bodied Daimler CVA6. Joan's Fashions on the corner of New Street, might have been the same company that had a similar women's fashion shop in Queen Square, Wolverhampton. As for the men, Gannex rain coats and trilby hats are the norm.
