The couple
His costume - cotton velvet with about 30 metres of various trims and lots of sew-on jewels. Fake fur collar in black, blue garter, and gold chain. The Robe made the whole costume, but was incredibly heavy. Off was much better.
Hers - orangey-pink dupioni silk, upholstery brocade for sleeves and kirtle. Lucky girl has about 4 layers on, but not so heavy as her husband's costume. I hand sewed a boodle of large perals and fake jewels to the headpiece and kirtle. For the head piece, we would up putting a comb in top, as her hair was so smooth and straight as to give no grip.
In the end, though I loved the silk of her costume, and it was more costly in materials, I preferred his costume, for the challenge of it and general effect.
