Rail Loading Armor during Combined Resolve III

M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks are lined up on rail cars at the U.S. Army's Grafenwoehr Training Area's main railhead, Oct. 16, 2014. The armored vehicles are awaiting transport about 80 kilometers south to the Hohenfels Training Area to participate in the maneuver portion of exercise Combined Resolve III. The armored vehicles are part of the European Activity Set, a battalion-sized set of equipment pre-positioned on the Grafenwoehr Training Area to outfit and support U.S. Army forces rotating to Europe for training and contingency missions in support of the U.S. European Command. The EAS is being used by the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division during Combined Resolve III at the Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels Training Areas, Oct. 1 – Nov. 24, 2014.
