Viking Shield Wall

TRIQUETRA is a collaboration between myself and Karen Monid.

See Video here: vimeo.com/78942896

This projection mapped video installation tells the story of three Viking kings and their place in English history. Specifically it was commissioned to celebrate the 1000 years since Sweyn Forkbeard became king of England.

The dynastic heritage of Harald Bluetooth, Sweyn Forkbeard and Cnut (Canute) the Great spans a period of history in Western Europe in which the Vikings were dominant. Harald was King of Denmark until his death. He united Denmark and was responsible for the transformation from Paganism to Christianity. Sweyn Forkbeard expanded the empire into England and was buried for a short time at York Minster where our work is being projected. Cnut (Canute) the Great became king of four countries and was a sophisticated European monarch.

The projection was carried out using multiple high power video projectors.

Projectors from QED

Sound system from VLS.
