I was walking to work along the Serpentine in London's Hyde Park; as I passed the Lido bathing area I was surprised to see a goose making good use of the shower provided for bathers! It did seem quite at home, I don't know if it regularly takes advantage of the shower, but I suppose it's better than ducking to get water over its back!
The Serpentine Lido is open to the general public, but it is also the base for the Serpentine swimming club; members swim at all seasons and they have a Christmas Day swim in which members swim one length of the lido and then get out (pretty quickly; but I'm sure it's a great appetiser for Christmas Dinner!).
The Sun had only just risen, I'd got the camera set up for sunrise shots, and I didn't think this picture would last long as I know the shower only runs for a limited time and then turns off! So I pushed the sensitivity up as high as it went and got snapping! Fortunately the shower operated for several more seconds, and in fact the goose decided it had had enough anyway and waddled off before the shower stopped.
As it was a bit of a rush, I found in this shot the camera was focussed on the bank behind the shower. I did take some others showing the goose as the centre of the image, and as these were in better focus I 'borrowed' a goose from one of these and replaced the original (very similar) goose. I couldn't see the join, if you think you can please tell me. I also increased the saturation pretty considerably.
