Standard Class 7 No.70013 'Oliver Cromwell' storms across the Stour Estuary at Cattawade (Manningtree) with 1Z90, Liverpool Street - Norwich Cathedrals Express. 22 02 2018

    Newer Older

70013 was steaming well past here, a good 50mph and in lovely light too. Unfortunately, the Loco developed a fault 35 miles further up the line at Diss and had to crawl to Norwich at a drastically reduced speed.

I can tell its speed by the way that plume of steam is lying low and long over the cars. What a lovely scene. I can hear that train, Peter!

      caminanteK Thank you Miguel!

Marco Thank you Marco! We have no mountains in this part of England :)

Simon Jowett Thank you Simon! It made a fine sight crossing the estuary :)

old_newstead_boy Thank you Richard! I think it should repaired by Saturday. There have been several pictures posted on Facebook, showing the side rods off already. Parts are coming from Loughborough.

pearl winch Thank you Pearl! I'd been wanting to get a steam special here for ages. Your shot at Kelvedon has come out very well, 70013 was working hard up the gradient, where you were :)

APB Photography™ Thank you Andrew! Never knew you were so close by :)

      renato.arthood Thank you Renato!

Beautiful California! Thank you Beth! The turn of speed surprised me. The loco sounded fantastic and the cars were nicely turned out too :)

Lovely to see it on the mainline - recall it looking lost during its time at Bressingham

Beautifully photographed crossing the Stour, Peter.
A shame you couldn't hold the tide for some nice reflections. Lol

True but at Bressingham it never really was given teh chance to go far .................. assume the policy changed when the new order there took over?

Jan McG, I capture what I see I'm not sure on the politics of it all Jan, I believe 70013 is part of the national collection and NRM call the shots?
