I was assured that a few seconds of having my back towards the Buddha were Ok

And that's me before the Big Buddha in the Phra Ubosot ordination hall at Wat pho in Bangkok. I did not want to sit with my back to the Buddha as I did not wish to offend, but my guide assured me it was ok as long as I was kneeling and was not standing taller than the Buddha. Notes about the fabulous Buddha appeared earlier in this album. (see previous pictures). The exterior balustrade surrounding the main hall has around 150 depictions in stone of the epic, Ramakien, which describes your journey from secular to spiritual state. The stone panels were recovered from a temple in Ayutthaya. The ubosot is enclosed by a low wall called kamphaeng kaew, which is punctuated by gateways guarded by mythological lions, as well as eight structures that house stone markers which mark the sacred space of the bot. Of course, all this is about the exterior of this building. (Bangkok, Thailand, Oct. 2018)
