High up and swaying dangerously

Another look at the long, suspended rope bridge from the othr side. The bridge is not resting on the solid tree you see in the picture- that tree is a couple of feet away. Which led me to wonder, how do trees in Borneo get to grow so tall? And how do they stay tall even in inclement weather? And with such solid trees around, probably several centuries old, how much forest man must have destroyed to make way for those idiotic oil palm plantations? These humans are indeed crazy.
