T6 Texan

Two Texans were operating at the airfield this morning. This one with, presumably, RAAF livery (rather than RAF) and another in US Navy colours.

They have a spectacular sound as they take off, which echoed around the airfield quite impressively this morning.

In Royal Air Force service, they were known as Harvards and I recall the Harvard Display Team from my teens and the various airshows I attended with my Granddad. They would take off in pairs occasionally, if memory serves, which was always noisy and thrilling. I think Gary Numan, the pop star, flew one for a while.
