Chelmsford, The Sevastopol Cannon and Graffiti

The 36 pounder Sevastopol Cannon in Oaklands Park in Chelmsford (UK). This Cannon was hidden away to a corner of the park in 1937 after residing at the top of the High Street since 1858.

Many of this type of cannon were captured during the Siege of Sevastopol during the Crimean War from 1853 to 1856. The captured cannons were sent and presented to many towns and cities within the British Empire.

It's historical value doesn't stop it being vandalised though with most of this was graffiti here when I last photographed the cannon in 2008..
