Victorian grafitti

Look carefully at these wall stones at Chelmsford Railway Station and and you can see inscribed 1876, 1877, 1878, 1879, and 1880 which is just before the time the station was built in 1885.


However these stones could have been moved from the original Eastern Counties Railway Station at Chelmsford which was located just a few hundred yards north of here.


Despite being a visitor to Chelmsford Station since 1978 i did not know these where here!


That's the station taxi rank just below the viaduct.
